Elbow Pain
Elbow pain with lifting, gripping, gym work, racket sports, or day-to-day tasks?
Elbow pain can affect everything from training and sport to simple day-to-day movement. Whether it came on gradually or after a specific increase in load, the right assessment can help identify what is driving it and what needs to improve.
Is this you?
You may relate to this if you have:
- Pain on the outside or inside of the elbow
- Pain with gripping, lifting, carrying, or twisting
- Pain during gym exercises such as pull-ups, rows, curls, or pressing
- Pain with tennis, padel, golf, climbing, or repetitive upper limb activity
- Discomfort with typing, mouse use, or repeated work with the hands
- A feeling of weakness through the forearm or reduced confidence using the arm
- Ongoing elbow pain that settles temporarily but keeps coming back
- Elbow pain that improved after an injection, but returned once activity increased again
We commonly see
The name of the condition matters less than understanding what is driving your pain and what needs to improve.
What may be causing it?
Elbow pain rarely has a single cause. It is often influenced by a combination of factors, such as:
- Sudden increases in training volume or intensity
- Repetitive gripping or overuse
- Reduced strength through the wrist, forearm, or surrounding upper limb muscles
- Poor load tolerance in the tendon or muscle
- Repeated strain from gym work, manual tasks, or racket sports
- Stiffness through the wrist, elbow, shoulder, or upper back
- Incomplete rehab after a previous flare-up
- Returning to activity too soon
Our role is to work out which factors matter most in your case and build a plan around them.
How we treat elbow pain
Your treatment plan is tailored to your presentation, goals, and training demands. This may include:
- Pain management strategies
- Hands-on treatment where appropriate
- Progressive loading for the forearm and elbow
- Strengthening for the wrist, forearm, and upper limb
- Grip tolerance work where relevant
- Mobility work where needed
- Load management
- Progressive return to gym, work, gripping, or sport
We aim to do more than just reduce pain — we help rebuild confidence and capacity.
